A new documentary series on Prime Video, “Against All Odds: The Daily Paper Story“, follows the journey of three friends from Amsterdam who started a clothing brand inspired by their African heritage and turned it into a global success. The six-part series, which premiered on June 15, features Hussein Suleiman, Jefferson Osei, and Abderrahmane Trabsini, the founders of Daily Paper, a streetwear label that celebrates African culture and identity.
“Against All Odds” showcases the challenges and achievements of the trio, who met as teenagers and bonded over their love of music, fashion, and art. The series also explores their personal stories, their roots in Somalia, Ghana, and Morocco, and their connection to the African diaspora. The series also features interviews with celebrities and influencers who have worn or collaborated with Daily Paper, such as Stormzy, Idris Elba, Burna Boy, and Virgil Abloh.
“Against All Odds” is produced by Prime Video Netherlands and directed by Safi Graauw, who said he wanted to highlight the positive impact of Daily Paper on the fashion industry and society. “I wanted to show how these three young men have created a platform for themselves and others who share their vision of celebrating diversity and inclusivity,” he told Fashion United.
“Against All Odds” has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, who praised its authenticity, inspiration, and relevance. The series also showcases the beauty and diversity of Amsterdam, London, New York, Accra, and other cities where Daily Paper has a presence.
